MSX TURBO-R
The MSX Turbo-R appeared in 1990, the first 16 bits MSX, with the new R800 processor the MSX got new speed of 28.6 Mhz, supported by the classic Z80A chip for compatibility reasons, the VDP was the same as the last generation, the V9958 from Yamaha.
In the sound hand, MSX Turbo-R included a new PCM chip to synthetise digitized sounds and new effects in the great TR games, the rest of sound was the same as the last generation, one FM chip and one Engine. MSX Turbo-R was made by Panasonic only, in two models, ST and GT, one of them with an integrated MIDI and a big tool ROM.
The MSX Turbo-R also has a good SRAM chip made for games which need to save game data.
