MadriSX´2001 returns next 10th of March
Very soon MadriSX will return with a lot of news, the veteran fair of the MSX in Madrid will open its doors the next Saturday, 10th of March in a new location, a 150 m2 hall of the eminent Husa Chamartín hotel, located in the own Chamartín train station. With this fair we will need more help after a problem with the Spanish computing museum activities, it promoted and coorganizated the meeting in its eight edition. Success in the "Salón MSX de Barcelona" (16/12/00)
The last 9th of December the XVIII MSX users meeting was made in Barcelona, our club did not want to miss this great moment and we were in this succesfull MSX fair. The "Salón del MSX of Barcelona" got all the previsions, and now it can be considered as the biggest MSX fair of Europe. Some japanese users visited this fair (Yokoi of Frontline and Ikeda) and more than 10 spanish stands. The visitors number got about 200.
The number of new products were incredible, new games like Blue Warrior, KPI Ball or the Moskow 2024 appeared in the scene for our delight, there were also new MSX magazines and fanzines like MSX Lehenak, Moai Tech or the recent SuperMSX, they decided to be printed at the same time for this fair. MSX Power Replay presented the new Barcelona edition of the knowed MSX Covers collection of Angel Carmona, for that purpose we were in company of this great person and his collaborator Xavi.
Our stand, as you can see in the photo, was nice and all the surface was occupied with MSX stuff, we sold the new MSX Covers + Destraler edition, the 2ndF PowerCDs, Audio CDs of IVI (Snatcher>>Policenauts and Snatcher Zoom Tracks), the ICM CD Magazine (Italy) and some posters and canvas printed by Angel Carmona with MSX covers. Our club was represented by Fernando López Ostenero (right), Iván Isidro (left) and Rafael Corrales.
Definitively, a great success and very soon we will publish a big report in the "Salón del MSX" banner, made by the club members who were lucky for visiting this fair and we continue enchanted for this travel to Barcelona, the best Barcelona MSX meeting of the last years. MSX Covers Collection, Barcelona edition (9/12/00)
In the last MSX fair of Barcelona: "Salón del MSX", a new edition of MSX Covers Collection was sell, the best computer game covers collection of the world, in this case dedicated to our loved system.
Angel Carmona has made this third and final version of the MSX Covers, he has added the last acquisitions of his own collection, with new scans of some tapes and cartridges, and some game special versions, the new optional CD with multimedia contents: Destraler, has been completed with some new MP3 of Compile and T&E soft.
Destraler is the name of a great multimedia CD, it has all the contents contained before in Covers 2 CD, adding a lot of new stuff like the new MP3 BSOs, remasterized games, MIDIs and an incredible videos of Ys2 Eternal that let will you dream. If the collection was excellent, now it is much better thanks to the new added files, so buy MSX Covers Collection and prepare yourself to enjoy the MSX feeling.

Leonardo Padial Electronics (12/11/00)
Sadly we are having a lot of bad news recently, LPE has decided to break his relationship with the club´s manager (Rafael Corrales) and at the same time he took the decision of stopping the distribution of his products trough MSX Power Replay, it is neccesary to inform you about this, now the hardware support, technical services and LPE products order must be done directly with Padial in lpadial@teleline.es
As the club´s purpose is the support of the MSX users of Madrid, we want to support and inform about all the MSX work made in Madrid, we organize MSX fairs and we will try to continue giving information and helping to LPE in his work with the system.
In fact, you can ask every doubt about Padial´s products trough us, and we also continue having orderers list for 8 bits productions, you can enter in these lists if you want some specific product. But know we only are intermediary of LPE, depending on the Padial decisions.
We want to advertise you that very soon LPE will make a FM PAK production with a price of 50,79 euros and you have the opportunity of getting one unit reserving it to Club Hnostar - hnostar@ctv.es - We are making a 1 Mb expansions list, if you are interested you can be added to the list contacting with us or Hnostar.
Unsuccesful SIMO TCI (11/11/00)
We have failed and we feel dissappointed after the SIMO TCI fair.
As you know we have planned to use a BPE stand space for showing the current MSX situation in this big computing fair, but in the last time BPE changed its decision and we lose the table in its stand. In spite of IDG continue giving to Spanish Computing Museum a little space with one i-Mac computer and one hostess, so the plans of the two MSX journeys were not cancelled althought we could not install a MSX computer, but at least we could fix come big MSX banners.
But in the moment that we arrived to IDG stand and we started to fix the MSX banners (made by Hnostar), a woman came to forbid the banners installation, this woman was the stand coordinator, about her words we were breaking the IDG image with our MSX logos, we could not believe this, but we could do nothing, we can not use the stand surround for fixing our banners. We decided to be with the hostess trying to contact with MSX users, but the woman also forbade us to put MSX bags and Hnostar magazines on the table, this was a shame for us.
At least we could talk with an old man who was a MSX user, he won a computer contest and he has some MSX computers ready for the museum.
With this unexpected big problems (even the MSX logos were stolen), we decided to change our planning, first we started fixin the last MSX information banner in an outside corridor, and we gave MSX bags to some visitors, we tried to show the MSX logo in the fair, maybe some old users could be surprised seeing this MSX logos. We could also put MSX flyers in some stands.
During some hours we walked in all the SIMO pavillions looking for users, but our effors did not get positive results, when we go to IDG stand we found two MSX persons, they were looking for museum stand during hours.
So everything was bad, now we hope that in SIMO 2001 fair we will can dispose a real space inside the Spanish Computing Museum.
Official presentation of MEI (7/09/00)
Last 7th of September was the press release of the MEI (Spanish Computing Museum) in the Convención hotel of Madrid, in front of a lot of press media and with a big expectation ambient Rafael Morales, manager and supporter of this cultural entity, showed the main points of this project that step to step if getting true. Rafael Corrales was there as a MSX GIE coordinator (specific interest group), so there is not doubt that the MSX system will have the space it needs inside the museum installations.
In some moments the MSX was named in the press release in reference to all the systems supported by its users, Rafael Morales said: -a system will never be dead while it is useful to only one user- , he stood out the GIE rol in the museum, this groups will be the museum face.
About the MSX he also talked about the news in software and hardware level, the MEI will offer its resources for the alternative systems, so they will enjoy with a better promotion in the mass media and computing fans. The official aperture dates will be the next ones: Madrid will have its computing museum in February, 2001 and Barcelona will open the second spanish computing museum in Christmas (01/02), just at the same time when Madrid museum will increase its surface to 1000 m2.
The museum will have sponsors and members for its economic support, but for non members there will be a unexpensive entrance. In the museum you will can enjoy with users meetings, conferences, computing library, etc...
Special 8 bits productions (20/08/00)
As you know, Padial makes 8 bits cartridges under minimum orders, our club got the first ten orders for 4 Mb cartridges and now they are ready and very soon they will be delivered to the users, this kind of productions offers better prices and a new possibility, you can order new products that are not present in our list, like FM Paks, now Padial is developing this cartridges, unavaliable and very hard to find. There is only one problem, the delivery time is 3 months for products in list, and the new products could have a delay of one year, and they need a previous study of viability.
Museo Español de la Informática (10/08/00)
"Spanish Computing Museum" Under this atractive name is a project never started in Spain, it wants to be the first cultural center for exposition, support, information...of the past, current and future computing science. Our club is proud of being a direct collaborator with the MEI, and the last month we could visit the future museum building, with 500 m2 of surface and two floors, it will be temporaly the museum location, but in two years the MEI wants to duplicate the museum size, opening some branchs in another spanish cities.
For our loved MSX the MEI offers bif profits: local meetings room, room of 200 m2 for MSX fairs in Madrid, a special section for MSX in the museum, system documents and resources, never seen MSX computers, technical service, economic support for MSX developers and MSX press.
But this benefits are extended to all the computing systems and computing lovers, the MEI maker is Rafael Morales, computing lover, PC Actual magazine redactor, computing writer and programmer. The MEI will have GIEs (specific interest group) with coordinators for the concrete system, the MSX GIE is the first one made, Rafael Corrales will be the coordinator. From this web we wish a big luck to the MEI an we hope that in a few years this will be a reference for computer users.
Juanjo´s minimuseum (2/08/00)
Juanjo is a computing lover and in special, he loves to collect all kind of computers, he is a MSX user and member of our club, some time ago we visited his computer collection with Rafael Morales (MEI manager), not only for visiting this wonderful collection, we also wanted to talk about the MEI and the GIE for computer collectors, hobby of many MSX users.
This little museum is a big surprise when you visit it for first time, it is located in a quiet district of Madrid, called Aravaca, under a comercial room, the contents are impresionant because it is only a particular collection, and you can see a lot of machines, from a very old computer like KIM 1, to special MSX models, like the little Casio MX-15, a model which has a special slot for connecting an external module with centronics port and power supply.
Apart from dozens of MSX computers, he has portable computers of the first of 80´s like the Epson that you can see in the photo. Computers of Sinclair, Amstrad, Commodore, Atari and curiosities like the original Apple Macintosh, Apple II, Dragon 200 and Excel Vision.
